The event was hosted in the neighboring cities of Brampton and Mississauga, May 8 and 9, and was indeed a showcase for all the competing players and teams and the host the Ontario Ball Hockey Association. Thirty-two teams from across the province competed hard as the OBHA Crowned Highschool Champions at their respective division.

And to the victors go the spoils!

The presentation of the championship trophy, signature wearables has become synonymous with OBHA supremacy. It is an accomplishment and one of the most sought after collection of trinkets in sports today. The experience and bragging rights is the goal of most teams at the highschool level of play in the province.

It was no doubt nothing less than a resounding experience for the boys and girls advancing to the championship finals as the teams all played good team defence, scored timely goals en route to the boys and girls ‘orange ball’ championships for highschool athletics.
In the Girls ‘A’ tournament, Leaside captured the title with a 1-0 victory over Micheal Power/St. Joe’s.

The Boy’s ‘A’ final would see two familiar foes as St. Theresa’s played Penetanguishene and this was a hard fought defensive battle as St. heresa’s would score midway through the first overtime to win 2-1.

In Boy’s ‘B’ there was very little seperating the teams and after the hard fought preliminary round games the Final Four in each division had been determined and the tournament was open for any team to win. However, once the dust had settled, it was Leaside winning 2-1 over Marc Garneau in overtime.

Boy’s ‘C’ finals David Suzuki would capture the championship in their first visit to the tournament with a 5-1 victory over Lincoln Alexander.
