To officiate hockey games within the Ontario Ball Hockey Association, you must become a certified official.

To obtain certification, you must be at minimum two years older then the division officiating and be able to attend an Ontario Ball Hockey Association clinic. Every year, this must be repeated.

The OBHA clinics are designed to optimize the instructional experience in an informative and enjoyable manner, taking into consideration an official's experience and current OBHA level. Within the OBHA we offer four types of clinics:

· New Referee Clinic for Youth
· New Referee Clinic for Adults
· Re-Certification for Adult Clinics
· Adult Ice Hockey Clinics

New Referee Clinics for Youth

New Referee clinics for Youth are for persons 13 years of age as of December 31st, 2011 that have never certified as an in the Ontario Ball Hockey Association Program. Successful graduates receive OBHA Year Bar – Level 1 referee certification.

Cost of the New Referee clinic for Youths is $35.00. Participants receive a OBHA Rulebook/Casebook, OBHA officiating manual, and an OBHA shoulder badge.

The New Referee clinic for Youths involves a one day 8 hour classroom sessions. Participants must complete all components of this clinic to receive OBHA Level 1 certification. Participants should bring a pen and paper to the clinic.

Registration for each New Referee clinic closes when the class is full or 5 days prior to the first classroom session, whichever occurs first. 2012 Spring and Summer Referee Clinic –

New referee clinics for Adults are for persons who are 18 years of age or older as of December 31st, 2011 that have never certified as an Ontario Ball Hockey Association Official. Successful graduates receive OBHA Year Bar - Level 1 referee certification.

Cost of the New Referee clinic for Adults is $90.00. Participants receive a OBHA Rulebook/Casebook, OBHA officiating manual, and an OBHA shoulder badge.

Re-certification for Adult Clinics

Re-certification for adult clinics is for previously certified OBHA officials. Successful graduates receive OBHA Year Bar – Level 2 referee certification.

Cost of the New Referee clinic for Youths is $90.00. Participants receive a OBHA Rulebook/Casebook, OBHA officiating manual, and an OBHA shoulder badge.

The Re-certification clinic involves a full day classroom sessions. Participants must complete all components of this clinic to receive certification. Participants should bring a pen and paper to the clinic.

Adult Ice Hockey Officials with Minimum Level II

Permitted to attend a Re-certification for adult clinics if able to provide the minimum of a Level II winter certification from the previous season. Successful graduates receive OBHA Year Bar – Level 2 referee certification.

Cost of the New Referee clinic for Youths is $90.00. Participants receive a OBHA Rulebook/Casebook, OBHA officiating manual, and an OBHA shoulder badge.

The Re-certification clinic involves a half day classroom sessions. Participants must complete all components of this clinic to receive certification. Participants should bring a pen and paper to the clinic.

Refund/Cancellation Policy

Cancellation/withdrawals 7 days or more prior to the scheduled clinic will be charged an administration fee of $10.00.

Cancellation/withdrawals less then 7 days prior to the clinic will not be refunded. Participants may reschedule for a future clinic at no charge provided that clinic is taken within 60 days from the date of the original clinic.
