The Ontario Ball Hockey Association (OBHA) during our 50th anniversary year introduced the skills competition to showcase the best of the best, build drama throughout the day and crown a champion for the first time in the various divisions.
Players competed in six disciplines, Agility, Breakaway (Goalie), Breakaway (Player), Hardest Shot, Passing and Shooting Accuracy.
OBHA Builders Hall of Fame member, Jamie Robillard came up with the idea, “we wanted to do something different that the players would have fun with and want to participate in.”
The players are great at what they do, but they also had some fun out on the floor with the support of many teammates and family.
The OBHA worked with its members leagues and teams attending Provincials for the Skills Competition.
Guye Vondette, Minor’s Chairperson, “the leagues were on board from the beginning as they are our partners. We run everything by them. They love it. They think it’s great.”
Mauro Cugini, President, “the feedback has been wonderful and everyone thought the event was great! Everybody that’s heard it from our standpoint has been really positive about it, so that gives us a lot of confidence going forward with this event.”
The OBHA would like to thank all the staff, volunteers, players and families for their assistance and support throughout the competitions.
