Mr. Claudio Ciarallo was the sport of ball hockey in Brampton for many years in the men’s division and built the Brampton Minor Ball Hockey League to be one of the biggest and heralded programs in the province.
Mr. Ciarallo was the consummate gentlemen. He was a great fan, a supporter and administrator of the sport. He was a pioneer and a building block of ball hockey in Brampton. He began with the men’s program twelve years ago, but moved to the minors program five years ago starting up the Brampton Minor Ball Hockey League to one of the most successful programs in the province.
Mr. Ciarallo was a great promoter of the game who had a sincere passion and love of the sport. He was a proponent of expansion of the game throughout the province at all levels. If he wasn’t in Brampton administrating and overseeing the local program he would be found at various tournaments throughout the province. He honestly believed it was indeed’ A Game Anyone Can Play”
Over the years he was honored with special achievement awards from the Ontario Ball Hockey Association, the Walter Moncrief Memorial Award (2005 & 2008) and last November received the Steve Rumsey Volunteer of the Year Award.
Mauro Cugini, Executive Director of the OBHA said, gentlemen with vision and love for the game like Mr. Claudio Ciarallo has set the tone and paved the way for the great sport that has developed and have left a legacy of which we, families and future generations around the province can and will be very proud of. He was a caring man, wonderful husband, loving father, and great friend who will remain forever in our hearts.
Doug Smart, long standing member of the Ontario Ball Hockey Association and President of the Oshawa Minor Ball Hockey Leagues offered, ‘it’s a sad day for Ball Hockey - to lose a dedicated person, a loving husband, father and friend to so many, the world lost a wonderful person today.” |
