Falcons Continue To Soar Above The Competition

The Vaughan Falcons continue to soar above the competition and captured the National Championship in convincing fashion.

The Falcons rise to prominence did not occur overnight.  In the past two years, the team has attended OBHA qualifiers and participated in league play down tournaments always working towards the goal of winning this championship.  Those years would be the foundation of what we see today and now the rest of the country is seeing them grow up and become a team.

The tournament would see five provinces represented with Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and host New Brunswick.

The team would go through the round robin portion with a 4-0 record and setting up a semi final against New Brunswick Elite where they went onto win 6-3.  The other semi final had the Nova Scotia Golden Seals win in double overtime over the Montreal Marksmen.

NBHAC - Nationals FalconsThe final would see the two youngest teams match up and for the second time as the Falcons would claim victory with the 5-0 win.

While the team has a few stars in forward, Daniel Ponce and Peter Angiolella on defence, the strength of this group is the team concept.

They can send three solid lines over the boards and goaltending is always the backbone of any championship calibre team and the Falcons have a good one that is the last line of defence.

It’s the team concept that wins and everyone from the stars to the role players must lead and play defence with discipline.

You have to be good and lucky to get opportunities in this game.  The Falcons have made the most of the chances thus far but, a budding dynasty? Jump on board and enjoy the ride as the team plans to soar to greater heights.
