Falco Steelers Dominate at the Las Vegas Shoot Out

The Ontario Ball Hockey Association teams set the standard by which all others are measured and the Falco Steelers at the Las Vegas Shootout showcased their skills as they stepped onto the floor in their quest of the championship.  The team from the Northwest Toronto Ball Hockey League created more than slight electrical impulse as they won the Championship playing exciting offensive ball hockey scoring an incredible 31 goals and allowing only 1.   The team played tight defence and received strong goaltending from Tony Iozzo and were led by Tournament MVP, Adriano Oliva.

The Steelers who play out of the Master’s division in Vaughan have patiently and persistently worked their way to the top of the ball hockey podium in Ontario and now on the international scene with this victory.  They have been the quintessential model for a progressive and developmental approach to constructing a competitive and successful team that continues to reap the reward of team work.

But in the end kudos goes out to the Rocco Mongelli who orchestrated the players who played as a team receiving contributions from all three lines, but more importantly, the team not only showcased their skills on the floor, but were ambassadors for the sport for their league, province and country.

After completing the round robin portion undefeated and receiving a bye to the semi finals the team would play the Vancouver Zombies in the semi final led by Mark Duchich with 3 goals en route to victory.   In the championship final they would meet the Los Angeles SBL and this time Oliva would contribute with the hat trick.

Congratulations to and thank you to Terry Cox, So Cal Ball Hockey League and Dan Corsatea, Las Vegas Dek Hockey Center and all of the officials and teams that attended and who made the event a huge success.
