This past weekend, ball hockey teams gathered in Mississauga for the OBHA Pre Season Showcase Tournament and what a SHOW the ladies put on!
If this was the preview for the Provincial Championships later this year, we will indeed be in for a treat as the level of competition was simply wonderful. At this year’s tourney, there was very little separating all the teams as this was the most balanced tournament in years.
This would be the first time the U20 Team Canada played together in preparation of the World Ball Hockey Federation U20 Championships, June 25 to July 1 in Nitra, Slovakia and as the tournament went along they faced tougher competition.
The excitement of the round robin would continue to the semi final round with the U20 Canada winning 5-2 over the Warriors and the Ball Hoggz winning 3-2 over Barrie 136.
The final was filled with end to end rushes and good goaltending and ultimately decided in overtime with the U20 Canada wining the Pre Season Showcase Championship 2-1.
Congratulations to all the women programs for their continued growth and development in all divisions of play and for their participation in the 2018 Pre Season Showcase Tournament and we look forward to the biggest Provincial Championship in Brampton this August
