This past weekend, ball hockey teams gathered in Mississauga for the OBHA Pre Season Showcase Tournament and what a SHOW the ladies put on!
The return of the ‘A’ division had many NCAA, CIS, CWHL, NWHL, Hockey Canada Olympians and Team Canada members compete in what was incredible action throughout the tournament.
After the round robin play, we had the Midland Battalion finishing first followed by the London Redliners, Durham Stars and Vaughan Holy Canoli setting up the semi finals. Both semi finals were rematches of opening night.
First up was the Battalion vs Holy Canoli and Midland scored a goal in the first and second leading late in the second period, but the team from Vaughan then scored and then the last five minutes tried valiantly to score the tying goal hitting the past in the final minute of play and Battalion would win 2-1.
The second game was where saw the vaunted London offence against the stingy Durham defence and the Redliners would score two in the first period enroute to a 3-0 win.
The final was set with the traditional offence vs defence and it would be the London Redliners scoring two goals in the first period and one in the second emroute to the 3-1 tournament victory.
Congratulations to all the women programs for their continued growth and development in all divisions of play and for their participation in the 2018 Pre Season Showcase Tournament and we look forward to the biggest Provincial Championship in Brampton this August
