Women’s B Pre Season Showcase Tournament
This past weekend, ball hockey teams gathered in Mississauga for the OBHA Pre Season Showcase Tournament and what a SHOW the ladies put on!
If this was the preview for the Provincial Championships later this year, we will indeed be in for a treat as the level of competition was simply wonderful. At this year’s tourney, there was very little separating all the teams as this was the most balanced tournament in years.
This would be the first time the Pittsburgh Steel City Bombers played at the Pre Season Showcase and they put on a show for all in attendance scoring 14 goals for and only giving up 1 goal.
The excitement of the preliminary robin would continue in the semi final with an international component as the Bombers would face the WTC Masters and coming away with a 3-1 victory. In the other semi final the Toronto Stars would score early and hold off the London Ball Hoggz in a 1-0 victory.
The final was filled with exciting action at both ends with the goalies holding off all efforts until the Bombers would score late in the first period and added the empty net insurance marker en route to a 2-0 victory.
Women’s C Division

In semi-final action, it was Simcoe County 136 wining 1-0 over the North York Hurricanes and the Toronto Penguins scoring a 8-2 victory over the Barrie Better Halves.
The final would see the Penguins storm out to a 4-0 first period lead enroute to a 5-1 victory over Simcoe 136.
Congratulations to all the women programs for their continued growth and development in all divisions of play and for their participation in the 2019 Pre Season Showcase Tournament and we look forward to the biggest Provincial Championship in Brampton this August
