2021 Provincial Championships – Men’s C Division

We are the champions!

The Provincial Championships, hosted at the end of the season in August for each of the respective adult divisions of play, are indeed the showcase series of events hosted by the Ontario Ball Hockey Association.

And to the victors go the spoils!

The presentation of the provincial signature medals, championship trophy and uniquely designed sublimated hoodies in each division of play, has become synonymous with OBHA supremacy.  It is an accomplishment and one of the most sought after collection of trinkets in ball hockey today.  The experience and bragging rights is the goal of most teams in the province at the beginning of each season.

The Rose City Royals from Welland are the 2021 C Provincial Champions.  The young guns showed they have some savy and grit in them as they found their game after a slow start to claim Provincial Gold.  The Royals traveled west, to London and posted an undefeated 5-1 record to capture the provincial title.  However, don’t let the statistics deceive you into thinking that it was easy, because the tournament was anything but a walk in the park as the majority of the games were tightly contested.

The team defied their detractors and continued to find ways to win as they went on to defeat the hometown London Turtles 4-3 in overtime in the semi final.   In the championship final, they would meet the Scarborough Stingers and jumped out to an early lead and would capture the title with a 4-0 win.

Congratulations to all the teams for a very exciting tournament and to the Rose City Royals, the C Provincial Champions.
